New creations Big Lake

New Creations' children are community-minded and family-oriented. Learning at New Creations is child-led and NAEYC-accredited. Our staff loves each child and treats them as if they were their own.

In addition to the education that we offer your children, we provide a solid basis for their faith by teaching them stories from the Bible. This gives each child the chance to learn about Jesus and biblical principles at the same time that they learn basic academic concepts.

Our Staff is Dedicated to Providing Early Childhood Education

We are passionate about offering the best early childhood education possible, and are always striving to learn new strategies for teaching young minds. Each age group has two classrooms to foster a differentiated learning approach. We provide a special schedule with activities that teach children valuable learning skills. Our center has a capacity of 105, which gives us the ability to love on the children in our community.

Meet Our Staff

Josie Killian, Assistant Teacher

My name is Josie Killian. I started at New Creations in September 2016 and I am currently an assistant teacher throughout the center. I have been working with children for many years, it's something I enjoy doing and plan on doing for many years. I am 20 years old and graduated from Monticello High School in 2014. My junior year of high school I was involved in youth service, I would go to Pinewood Elementary and help out in the music room working with 3rd and 5th graders. During my senior year in high school I took an Early Childhood and Elementary Careers class at the Wright Technical Center which led me to my first internship. My first internship was at Eastview Elementary in a head start class. Fall of 2014 I started with Childhood and Adult Care and Education program at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. While at SCTCC I was able to partake in two internships, one in an ECFE class in Becker and one at Pleasantview Elementary in a kindergarten classroom.

When I am not working with children, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and my family. I have my mother, a sister that is 10 years younger than me, a sister that is 4 years older than me, and a beautiful niece. I am also an aunt to my boyfriend's 3 nieces and nephew. I often babysit and try to spend as much time with my nieces and nephew as I can! My boyfriend and I have a dog named Penny, a cat named Kitters, and a sand boa named Nagini.

Brooke LeBrun, Assistant Director

My name is Brooke LeBrun and I am 19 years old. I was born and raised in Moneticello / Big Lake area my whole life. I graduated from Monticello High School in 2015 and am currently enrolled at St. Cloud State University for my second year finishing my generals and am hoping to further my education toward Early Childhood Education or Marine Biology. Family is the most important thing to me and I would do anything for them. I have an older brother who just graduated college at Morris, and a younger sister who will be in 6th grade. And a cat named Oliver.

Growing up in Minnesota you would think I would like winter, well you are wrong. Although I love winter sports, I am more of a hot summer person. Me and winter do not mix well together. In the summer, I love to explore and adventure around Minnesota and surrounding states. When I was younger, I tried every sport that was ever invented and realized that I am just not built for sports. So in my free time I love to be outdoors laying by a pool, roller blading, going to movies and binge watching T.V. episodes.

I have been around the daycare setting since 2008 when we broke ground and founded Lil' Achievers. I worked at Lil' Achievers for 3-4 years as a classroom Aide and made my way up to a Teacher Assistant. Since the transition over to New Creations I am excited to say that I am now the Assistant Director. It has been a great experience and am excited to see what the future holds here at NCC.

Working at a daycare has been a huge blessing the past couple of years. I have formed a huge bond with the employees and a lot of the families here. I love being a part of these kids' lives when they are growing up and being a role model to these kids. I am an open book and love getting to know kids as well as the parents.

Stephanie, Lead Teacher

Hello and welcome! My name is Stephanie and I reside in Zimmerman with my husband, Eric, and children, Tayler and Blake. In my free time I enjoy driving my children around for sports, and spending time with my family and friends! I look forward to working with you and your children.

Brianna, Teacher

Hello everyone! My name is Brianna and I am from Albertville, MN. I am currently finishing up my senior year of nursing school at Bethel University. After graduation I hope to be working either in pediatrics or in labor and delivery. If I'm not spending time with babies, I enjoy camping, running with my dog, spending quality time with friends and family, and almost any outdoor activity.

Jessa, Toddler Teacher

Hello Toddler Families! My name is Jessa and I am the Toddler Teacher at New Creations. I've been with the daycare since 2009 and have worked with every age in each room. I've lived in Big Lake my whole live and went to school in Big Lake. I have been married for 5 years and have a 2 year old son named Kash and one on the way coming in October 2017. I love to be with friends and family when I'm not at the center with my Toddler family. Some of my favorite places to be are on a beach or at my parents' house up north on Mille Lacs Lake. My family does a lot of car races and shows, so if I'm gone for a couple of days, chances are I'm at a car event.

I love working with kids of all ages and enjoy watching each child grow and learn new things everyday. The best thing about working here is being able to be with my son all day and watching him interact with the other children in the room. Over the years I have met some really amazing children and I can't wait to meet the upcoming Toddlers in the future!

Elen Holdsworth, Early Pre-K Room

Hello, my name is Elen Holdsworth, I recently moved to Minnesota in January of 2016. I have been working at New Creations since February of 2016. I am currently working in the early pre-k room. I am originally from Sioux City, Iowa which is about 6 and a half hours away. Back in Iowa I graduated from Briar Cliff University in 2010 with a four year degree in graphic design. After college, I worked at Victoria Secret for 5 years, I then moved on to working at Holy Cross School for 2 and a half years where I worked as a preschool teacher's aide. I took training in Gold and a course in creative curriculum. For a summer, I worked at Building Blocks Daycare center.

I recently got married in July 2016 in Iowa; that was a fun experience planning a wedding and now enjoying being newlyweds. Since then, my husband and I have been traveling; we visited Bahamas, Sedona Arizona, Las Vegas, Texas and California. We just came back from an amazing time in the Dominican Republic. Hopefully we can add some more trips to that list.

In my spare time I love to craft, paint, sing and listen to music. I also have a dog named Abigail who I spoil and love as if she was a real human child. She has been with me since she was just hours old. It was an amazing experience to have been there when she took her first breath. Since my husband and I have moved to Minnesota, we have been exploring, going to Twins games, a Vikings game, really taking all that Minnesota has to offer.

I enjoy working with children, they are so fun and full of life. I enjoy helping them grow and seeing their progress over time and their minds fill up like a sponge. They are a joy and a handful to work with but at the end of the day, it's so rewarding.

While attending BLHS, I participated in three choir classes, and a few other art classes/clubs that earned me the Fine Arts Award Student of the Year my junior and senior years of high school. When I'm not at work, I enjoy volunteering at my church, The Crossing. I am a singer in the band and I sing every other Sunday at the St. Cloud campus. I also volunteer in kid's ministry on Sundays and on Wednesdays I am a leader in youth ministry. My hobbies include painting, puzzling, drawing, and singing. I also love going shopping, especially for candles. I have about 20 right now, but I say you can never have too many candles!
