Your Practical Guide to a Smooth Transition into Childcare

Embarking on the journey of childcare is an exciting chapter for you and your little ones. At New Creations Child Care, we understand the significance of this transition, and we are here to embrace your family into ours. Since we opened our doors more than a decade ago, we have been blessed to have been entrusted with thousands of wonderful children, and we want to share the heartwarming stories and practical tips that make this transition easier.

A Window Into Their World with Daily Connect

Effective communication is crucial for both teachers and parents to ensure your child is taken care of with the consistency they need between home and their classroom. From the practical information (When did my baby last eat? Did my toddler use the potty today? How is my preschooler doing with learning their letters?) to the uplifting stories about how your child is spending their day, we invite parents to be as involved as possible. Using an app called Daily Connect, New Creations parents receive real-time updates about sleep, meals, bottles, diapers, and curriculum, and can even message the teachers in the classroom directly. As parents ourselves, we understand wanting to peek into your child's world, and to be part of the laughter and discoveries. It's more than an app; it's a window into the joyous moments that define your child’s day and a comforting link between your world and theirs.

Other Tips:

  • Talk to your child about their day, and incorporate songs and stories that they hear in the classroom into your home routine.

  • Match up your New Creations schedule with your schedule at home.

    • For infants, we follow your lead for feedings and naps, so your baby’s schedule is consistent every day.

    • For older children, try to start following their new class schedule at home a few days before their first day, so they have some time to adjust. Once they start in their New Creations classroom, they’ll jump right into the routine with the rest of their new friends!

Set the Stage with Pre-Enrollment Orientation

Your first day in a new place would make anyone apprehensive, and a child’s first day in a new childcare setting is no different, especially for a child who has only known their family as their caregivers. We want to ease this anxiety and make the transition as seamless as possible. We offer each of our new families the opportunity to schedule a new family orientation before their first day, to help both families and children feel comfortable in their new “home away from home”. We’ll make sure all your paperwork is squared away, you can drop off any supplies that your child needs (diapers, wipes, extra clothes, etc.), and we’ll take some time to get to know you. Your child can meet their new teachers, see their classroom, and get excited to come for their first day!

Other Tips:

  • Send your child with a comfort item to help them feel more secure, like a favorite blanket or stuffed animal for nap time.

  • If you can’t schedule an orientation before your first day, arrive a few minutes early to connect with your center staff and make sure your child has everything they need.

Open Door Policy - Visit Anytime!

Unlike many other childcare centers, New Creations encourages an open-door policy with our parents during the day. You're not just dropping off your child; you're stepping into a community where questions are welcomed, concerns are heard, and visits are encouraged. Feel free to visit your child at any time in our center. Stop in for lunch or circle time, or ask your site director about volunteering in your child’s classroom. Guest readers and speakers are always a blessing!

Other Tips:

  • For toddlers and preschoolers, who typically nap or have quiet time at the same time every day, check with your child’s teacher in advance to make sure your arrival won’t interfere with the much-needed rest time.

  • Speak excitedly and positively to your child about New Creations. Your child will mirror your thoughts and feelings, so by telling them about how wonderful their teachers are and how much fun they will have, you will manifest calm and excitement for your child as well.

Here's to a seamless transition and the beginning of a wonderful journey together! As you step into this new phase, we're here to provide not just childcare but a practical support system. Feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or even just for a casual visit. Welcome to a community where your involvement is valued, and we're committed to making each day a positive and enriching experience for your child, just ask these New Creations Families:

"Since starting New Creations Child Care two months ago, both of our daughters have shown huge improvements in their speech and confidence during interactions with other children. My children also run into their classrooms each morning so excited to see their teachers again, and my oldest consistently asks when she's going to see Miss Andy next. So grateful we found New Creations!" -Shelby

"We LOVE New Creations! We've had our toddler here part-time for 8 months now and feel so supported in every way. The teachers are so fun, the staff is always friendly, responsive and truly go the extra mile. Before bringing him here, I had him full-time at home. They couldn't have made our transition easier and we're so comfortable bringing him to a place he absolutely loves!!" -Megan
